Too many horses need a soft place to land when their owners can no longer financially, physically, or responsibly support them. Too often these horses end up bouncing from home to home, going to auction, or ending up in the hands of kill buyers. The auction pipeline is overflowing. The rescues that save horses on the auction block can only do so much and can't be everywhere at once. And once saved, the rehabilitation journey has just begun. What if we could start to slow that pipeline flow and instead focus on making sure that horses end up in great homes, safe, healthy, and happy?
As registered 501(c)3 in NH we are NOT a rescue but instead, an alternative pathway for owners needing to find new homes for their horses. In an effort to slow the auction to slaughter pipeline and to keep horses in safe, happy environments and with a focus on the horse as a whole, its medical needs, training, and career goals, our goal is to give horses and their owners an alternative to the auction pipeline that gives the horse a pathway to a forever home.
Horse ownership comes with some pretty daunting challenges. What happens when your horse needs post-op or injury care that you can't provide? What happens when life throws you curves and you can no longer care for your horse and have to sell but can't find a good home? Or maybe you don't even know how to look for a good home. We offer owners access to training and medical support for horses in need as well as a safe place to surrender their horse as a last option.
While our primary goal is take in horses in need, we also want to help the equine community grow and do so in a stronger, more positive way. We are excited to offer donor based education and training in rehabilitation practices, medical care, nutrition, and basic horsemanship through our network of equine professionals. We want to open doors into the equine industry for those interested by supporting an active employee base.
